A few weeks ago blogger Linda Myers had written Sliding into home, churchwise about her decision to become involved in a church community after thirty years away again. I’m sure I am missing references to other bloggers I continue reading a regular basis, nevertheless, you get the point: being spiritual or religious is a part of a retirement lifestyle for many.
Maybe it’s the increasing knowing of our own mortality that causes folks to think about such matters. Maybe it is the social areas of finding like-minded people to spend time with. Any spiritual tradition I am aware of stresses the initial benefit we’ve over-all the other animals on the planet: a mindful knowing of our life and its own importance.
